Patient Testimonial

“I had an excruciating toothache. I took off work to find a dentist. I called Soulsmile and was able to get an immediate appointment and an hour later, my bad tooth was pulled and I felt human again. Staff was very friendly and I recommend them highly.”

Tips for dealing with a dental emergency

The following suggestions are based on regulations by the American Dental Association:

  • If an adult, or permanent tooth, is completely knocked out, try to keep it moist at all times. If you can place the tooth back in the socket without irritating the root, do so. Otherwise, keeping the tooth between your cheek and gums or submerged in milk are good alternatives. Get to a dentist’s office as son as possible

  • If your tooth has cracked, clean the area by rinsing your mouth with warm water as soon as possible. You should also use a cold compress to reduce any swelling.

  • If you accidentally bite your lip or tongue, clean the area gently with water and apply a cold compress as necessary. These type of wounds heal quickly as the mouth receives a larger amount of blood supply that the rest of the body.

  • For toothaches, clean your mouth by rinsing with warm water. We also suggest gentle use of dental floss to be sure to dislodge any food caught between the teeth. Have a dentist evaluate the tooth's prognosis.

In general, if you have a true dental emergency, it’s important to visit your dentist or an emergency room as soon as you can.
